Where will the Marion County Library District money come from after all donated funds dry up?
PALMYRA, MO. -- Voters in Palmyra and Marion County, Missouri, did not pass a proposed property tax levy to help fund the new Marion County Library District.
The Quincy Herald-Whig reported that Noraman Hare, the library district's board president, said the library district, with the Palymra Bicentennial Public Library as it's main facility, receives $41,000 a month from the city and county but has been using donated funds to make up a deficit of almost $5,000 a month.
These donated funds will run out in approximately 2 years and the result could be cuts in operating hours and some programs the library district offers.
KHQA's Jim Whitfield will speak to Hare on Friday and bring you more details, so check this story later and watch KHQA's News at Five, KHQA's Evening News at 6 p.m. and KHQA's Late News at 10 p.m.
