Fatal fire in Macon, Mo.

We have new information regarding a fatal apartment fire in Macon, Missouri Friday morning.

18-month-old Lena Rose Techau died in the fire. Her parents, Mathew and Jamie Morea were also injured and remain in critical condition at a Columbia Hospital.

Hutton & Mc Elwain Funeral Home wil be handling the funeral arrangements, though a date is pending.

Our sister station KTVO in Kirksville's Ela Soroka has confirmed that the parents are listed in critical condition, as of Saturday.

We received this release from the Macon Fire Department:

On 04/08/2011 at approximately 1:48 am, The Macon Police and Fire Departments were dispatched by Macon County E-911 to structure fire at 702 N Rubey Street in Macon. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Macon Fire Department, Macon Police Department and Division of Fire Safety. As a result of the fire, one fatality and other injuries were reported. The Macon County Ambulance assisted at the scene. Fire Chief Ross Dutton states that the 6-unit apartment building received extensive damage, and there were other families displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is providing assistance to the families.

An early morning fire claimed the life of a Macon, Missouri man on Friday. The fire occurred at 702 N. Rubey in Macon at approximately 1:48 a.m.

Other injuries were reported, but it is unclear if they were fire-related.

Several families lived in the 6-unit apartment building.

Extensive damage was done to one unit in the building.

Those displaced are being helped by the American Red Cross.

The cause of the fire is under investigation and we'll bring you more information as it is released.
