JACKSONVILLE, ILL. -- The Jacksonville school board has a tough decision to make next week. It will discuss what to do with its facilities, including whether to close some schools.

According to the Journal Courier, the decision will be made this Wednesday by the current school board.

A review committee suggested building a new middle school for sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders and closing Turner Junior High School.

It would also expand, update and climate-control Lincoln, Eisenhower, North and south Jacksonville, and Murrayville-Woodson elementary schools. It would also bring kindergarteners back to their home schools.  Franklin and Washington elementary schools would be closed once that was accomplished.
