It looks like plans to study building a new transportation hub in the City of Quincy are no more.

Monday night, the Quincy City Council approved a $30 million budget for the new fiscal year, which begins next month.

But the council voted to remove $35,000 from it which would've been spent on a feasibility study for a new transit "intermodal" terminal.

Republican aldermen Paul Havermale and Kyle Moore held a town hall meeting to discuss the issue earlier this month.

Monday night, they told the council that most people who turned out to that meeting opposed the project.

KHQA spoke with Mayor John Spring who expressed disappointment.

Spring said, "It's a shame, because we have state and federal money that earmarked for the project. It's a shame for our community and region. "

Monday night, the council also honored 6th Ward Alderman Skip Vahlkamp.

He's served on the Quincy City Council for 28 years and decided not to run for re-election.

The City of Quincy is expected to vote on a $30 million dollar budget Monday night.

He said there could be some possible changes in the proposed budget.

Mayor Spring said the council is expected to vote on the budget for the new fiscal year, which begins next month.
