QUINCY, ILL. -- Area senior citizens had a little fun Tuesday afternoon while learning how not to get ripped off.

As part of the Senior Police Academy, seniors were treated to a fashion show...not to show the latest styles, but to show some of the latest scams.

That includes one that hit the area not long ago...someone shows up at your door to distract you while another person burglarizes your home.

Detective Tom Liesen says, "It's called who is really knocking on your door. It's a fashion show. We have all the different law enforcement agencies represented. We have fire department, ambulance, utility companies, and all the shipping companies here. They are coming in uniform to educate the seniors as to who should be coming to your door."

Seniors also learned about drivers licenses, I.D.s, and traffic laws before the fashion show.

Next week, they get to see a mock crime scene by the Quincy Police Department Crime Scene Investigators.
