Man also accused of stealing thousands of dollars in tools

A registered sex offender from Macomb is waiting be extradited back to the area from Maryland where he had been living.
MCDONOUGH COUNTY, ILL. --
Michael Hayes was arrested after McDonough County authorities got a tip that he was living outside the state.

U.S. Marshall's arrested him on Tuesday and he is being held on a 15 thousand dollar cash bond.

Michael Hayes is also accused of stealing a van from Bushnell filled with thousands of dollars worth of tools that was found abandoned in Canton.

The tools were missing.

The McDonough County sheriff's office and the Bushnell police are still working to try and recover the missing tools.
