PITTSFIELD, ILL. -- It's been more than 150 years since the Civil War but it came alive this weekend in Pittsfield.

[Lincoln Days made its home at Pittsfield Lake.

Several booths filled the area with artifacts from the days of the war.

The Union and Confederates also took their sides in the popular re-enactment.

Lincoln Days not only celebrates the war but America's history in general.

Reenactor Erik Hack says, "Reenactors are historians and a lot of them believe that if you don't remember your past you're doomed to repeat it. And we get to pass that on to our younger generations. A lot of us remember being in school and reading in 1860 something happened and you fall asleep. Here you get to come out and touch the uniforms, see the horses, smell the gunfire, hear the cannons. It brings history alive, it really makes a difference."

Something new that took place this year was a Civil War era wedding on the lake front.
