Just when you thought Facebook technology was creepy ... and invading your privacy.

Facebook can now recognize your face!  This new technology identifies people in photos by simply scanning their faces.  Sound scary? Let us know on our Facebook page here!

Facebook will offer "Tag Suggestions" that use the facial recognition technology in hopes that it will speed up the process of formally tagging someone.

This new feature is causing many people to be concerned about their privacy because Facebook users are reporting that the feature has rolled out in the last few days without any notice.

The Los Angeles Times reports that "The Electronic Privacy Information Center, based in Washington, D.C., said Wednesday that it plans to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission raising concerns over Facebook's new "tag suggestions" feature which allow users to identify people across multiple photos at once using facial-recognition software."

It was last December that the social media giant announced that it planned to introduce the face detection technology, Reuters reported. Facebook announced Tuesday that the feature is now more widely available.

As for photos that already exist on your Facebook profile, they won't be included in this new system.  It only applies to new photos that are added.

Additionally, users have the option to disable the feature in their privacy settings.
