QUINCY, ILL. -- The Pepsi Little People's Golf Tournament is a hole in one for the city of Quincy.

The tournament only lasts a few days, but it rakes in the dollars.

As they say drive for show, putt for dough. But talking economically, drive to the show and spend your dough here is a good thing for the city of Quincy.

Holly Cain says, "It's still one of our top revenue generators even though they've had a little bit of decrease in attendance. It's still about $300,000 to the economy of Quincy."

And that all comes in the coffers in a matter of days.

Cain says, "We think about 1000 people come in for this event. It's youth, so they can't come by themselves. They are bringing their parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters. Those add up too."

Holly Cain with the Quincy Convention and Visitor's Bureau says it also adds more when the visitors are international because they tend to stay longer and spend more money. They may not stay in Quincy the whole time, but they are spending more time and money in America.

Cain says, "We estimate about $150 is spent per person if they are here overnight. So they are fueling...that's not cheap. They are eating out, and a lot of times they do a little shopping."

We checked with several hotels in Quincy, and found most of them rented some rooms to golfers and their families. It's a good pick me up in the hotel business to be full during the week.

Dax Fohey says, "Having that Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday business...Sunday night even, we were about half full Sunday night when the Little People Golfers started to come in. It's just tremendous to have that weekday business."

Dax Fohey is the General Manager of the T&C Inn. It's only been open for about a month, so wasn't as full of little golfers as it would've liked, but still found a rush of business because of the tournament.

Fohey says, "The majority of our rooms were sold to corporate travelers who came to town and couldn't get into their other hotels they normally stay at, so they ended up out here."

Fohey says his hotel has already taken reservations for next year's Pepsi Little People's Golf Tournament.

Dax Fohey also says this week has been the busiest week for the T&C Inn...which has only been open for a month.
