About 130 soldiers with the Missouri National Guard's 2175th Military Police Unit based in Hannibal and Moberly are set to deploy overseas this Friday.

A mother and daughter from northeast Missouri wanted to let those soldiers know that their friends and loved ones would be thinking and praying for their safe return.

KHQA's Rajah Maples spoke with the duo about a project to make that happen.

Wanda Cooper of Perry and her mother, Ora Lee Foutes of New London made 140 king-sized pillow cases. They've already delivered them to the Missouri National Guard's 2175th Military Police Unit whose soldiers are expected to spend a year in Qatar.

The two women told me they have three family members serving, so they wanted to make sure each soldier felt plenty of support from friends and family back home.

The Ladies Auxiliary of Mark Twain Post 40-88 in Perry donated baggies to help protect the pillow-cases.

There will be a deployment ceremony this Friday at 2 p.m. at Clemens Field in Hannibal to help give the soldiers a proper sendoff.

In case of inclement weather, this Friday's ceremony will take place inside the Admiral Coontz Recreation Center.

State officials are expected to attend ... will you come out and show your support? We hope to see you there!
