KAHOKA, MO. -- Wednesday, October 5, 2011, Good news. Black Hawk Elementary in Kahoka passedĀ its mold test Wednesday. Monday September 26, 2011, The playground is quiet and the halls are still empty at the Black Hawk Elementary School in Kahoka and that's something school superintendent Ritchie Kracht hoped wouldn't be happening this late in September.

He was hoping that the mold problem at both Black Hawk and Running Fox would be taken care of. And on the bright side of things, students are back at Running Fox for the first time since school started about six weeks ago.

"Yes I think everybody is ready to get back. It's been a rough fall. Everything went as well as it can, but everybody is ready to get back into the regular classrooms," said Kracht.

Over at the Running Fox Elementary, teachers and students are still unpacking boxes and getting classrooms set up. Susan Rossmiller is the principal and she says it's going to take a couple of days for the staff and the students to get back into a routine.

"When they came off the buses today it was amazing. They were all smiles and awake and happy to be here. It was a good Monday, let me just tell you that," said Rossmiller.

Meanwhile back at Black Hawk Elementary, another air quality test is scheduled for Wednesday. There's hope those test results will come back with a report that will allow the 350 students get back to their normal routine instead of having to still attend school over at the Clark County High School.

Kracht said another air quality test is set for Wednesday at Black Hawk Elementary School and he said a microbiologist has to read the air quality tests to determine if and when students and staff will be allowed back in the building.
