TRI-STATE AREA -- A Frost Advisory is in effect for the westernmost portion of the Tri-State area for late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. This includes our north-central Missouri counties of Schuyler, Adair, and Macon and includes Kirksville, Lancaster, La Plata, and Macon. These areas all have a good chance for frost through Thursday morning.
For any given town during the autumn, Frost Advisories are only issued a time or two, and they signal the official end of the growing season.
Some of the coldest air of the season so far will be slicing into north-central Missouri tonight as an Ohio Valley storm pulls in north winds and a clear sky behind it.
This near-perfect recipe for cold temperatures and many resulting Frost Advisories will expand eastward to rake-in the remainder of the viewing area on Thursday night and Friday morning.
Sensitive, outdoor plants may be killed if they are left uncovered. The frost will likely damage other tender vegetation as well.
