HANNIBAL, MO. -- Moberly Area Community College is getting some help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to build a permanent college in Hannibal.

According to www.centralmoinfo.com, Monday night the Board of Trustees gave the green light to an $87 thousand FEMA grant to proceed with the design development of a permanent facility ... as well as storm shelter to be located on the new campus.

FEMA has also awarded the college an $800 thousand construction grant, which the board will discuss in November.

MACC currently leases the AT&T Building in Hannibal, but the school has been working towards a permanent facility for its 350 students for years.

The college president expects groundbreaking for the new facility near Hannibal's medical campus to begin next summer.
