SPRINGFIELD, ILL. -- Illinois lawmakers have sent Gov. Pat Quinn legislation that would allow Chicago to monitor school-zone speeding with cameras.

Here is your Facebook Story of the Day.

Chicago's mayor says it will save lives.

The cameras would monitor traffic near schools and send $100 tickets to drivers going more than 5 mph over the limit.

The ticket would not be considered a moving violation.

A spokeswoman says the governor has not decided whether to sign it.

Do you think local school-zones should be equipped with these cameras? Post your comments below or on our Facebook page here.
