Forget Black Friday, the traditional kick-off of the holiday shopping season ... this year, it's almost a black Friday week.

Many retailers, including giants such as Walmart and Target are opening late Thursday night to get a jump on competitors.

Of course, there has been some backlash. More than 75,000 people in a 24-hour period signed a petition at www.change.org urging Target to reverse its decision.

The effort was started by a Target employee in Omaha.
