A Hannibal man is in police custody accused of trying to strangle his wife Saturday.

A police officer was flagged down by 38-year-old Heidi Eaves at the corner of Pearl and Houston streets. She accused her husband, 29-year-old Levi Eaves of assaulting her.

Eves was put under a 24-hour hold in the Marion County Jail with a $50,000 bond. He's charged with a Class C felony domestic assault in the second degree.
