Are you dreaming of a “White Christmas” (insert your favorite version here)?

Each year NOAA releases what I like to call their Christmas prognostication.  Based mainly on historical data, each year they project the chance of each region of the country having a “white Christmas”.  This year we fall right in the middle with a 26 to 40% chance of a Bing Crosby kind of Christmas.

The first run forecast models for the period including Christmas are calling for temperatures to be in the mid 30’s that week with a partly to mostly cloudy sky forecast for our region on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

I tend to put little faith in the far reaching forecasting of two weeks out, at least with the precipitation; however the temperature patterns are normally a good indicator.

So, at this point it is not looking like a particularly cold Christmas and as for the snow … we’ll just have to wait and see!
