SPRINGFIELD, IL. -- Illinois is one of seven states to win a share of $200 million in the federal Race to the Top education program.
The state will get $42 million, the most of the seven winners.
An Illinois State Board of Education spokeswoman says half the money will go to school districts that speed up compliance with new state education standards.
