No snow pants this week or next

This afternoon my six year old looked at a pair of snow pants that his Grandma had gotten him for Christmas and he asked, "What are those things for!?" and that may just be a good question this winter.

After a high on Wednesday of 45 in Quincy and with the lower 50's in the forecast several days this week, I think many of us are thinking the same thing.  "Is this what winter in the South feels like?"

As I sit here looking at the 10 to 15 day outlooks from various computer models and the government forecasting agency, I had to check my location to make sure I was not in another state.

It would appear that we will continue to trend on the warmer side for at least the next 10 days with all indicators pointing towards the first half of January being "above normal."  The "normal or average" high for this period is around 34 with overnight lows in the upper teens.

After the weekend it does appear that we will work our way back towards "normal" but even that may be short lived if some of the computer data is correct we may see another round of 40 degree weather by late next week.
