HANNIBAL, MO. -- The hottest spot to get wings this Saturday was in Hannibal.
The 8th annual Wing Ding was celebrated at the local armory.
A portion of money raised by the event will go to the Great River Honor Flight.
That program sends veterans on a Washington D.C. trip to see national landmarks.
The event included a hot wing eating race, bobbing for wings, and "best hot wing" contest.
It cost only $5 to get in, but organizers say what the day gave veterans was invaluable.
"I think it gives them a way to come down and support any past veteran or current veteran I think they think it's a great honor for some of them, that way they're not forgotten," said Jennifer Foster who is a member of the Hannibal Junior Chamber of Commerce member.
Wing Ding was sponsored by the Hannibal JCC, a non profit organization that raises money for the community.
