A construction permit has been issued for the Blackstone Group so work can begin on a new Walgreens at 1723 Broadway.

The existing store, which is 13,900 square feet, will remain open until the new store is completed. 

Construction, valued around $1.5 million, should begin by the end of March on the 14,820 square foot building.

There should be little or no interruption in service at the current store.

The existing store will be demolished when construction is complete in November to create parking for the new store.
