QUINCY, ILL. -- Quincy Notre Dame High School is expected to announce its replacement for retiring principal Ray Heilmann Thursday.

The school will hold an all-school assembly at 8:15 a.m. Thursday to make the announcement of its selection, according to a press release issued by the school Monday.

Mark Hayes, president of the QND Board of Directors and head of the principal search committee said Monday that face-to-face interviews with the final candidates were conducted Thursday, Feb. 23.

The new principal would take over in an official capacity beginning July 1.

Thursday's announcement is the end result of a nationwide search for Heilmann's replacement.

Heilmann has announced in May that he'll retire after 39 years with the school.
