A 64-year-old Carthage man was hospitalized Thursday night after he crashed his three-wheel motorcycle.

Roger T. Sherer was eastbound about 7:40 p.m. on Main Street when he attempted to turn north on Second Street.

The Illinois State Police said he was traveling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle landed on Sherer who was not wearing a helmet.

Sherer was taken by helicopter to Blessing Hospital with critical injuries.
