QUINCY, ILL. -- The Central Illinois Foodbank is asking residents in the Tri-States to help restock their shelves.

The Springfield, Ill.-based food bank and Sam's Club are partnering in a food drive between now and March 28th to collect enough food to create one-million meals for needy families.

Sam's Club can drop off their food donations at drop off points in front of the store.

Officials said this time of year is when the shelves start to get a bit thin because of all the distributions the food banks have made since the holidays.

"We're so excited that Sam's Club has teamed up with Feeding America to do this food drive right now. So that people can have the opportunity to donate, as people need food leading up into the summer and the holidays are over. But they really need to be able to feed their families 365 days a year," Kristy Gilmore, manager of Central Illinois Foodbank food resources, said.

The food bank serves a 21 county region from Quincy to Springfield and south to Mount Vernon.
