HANNIBAL, MO. -- A Hannibal man is behind bars and recovering from being pepper-sprayed after holing up in a house.
Police responded to an Ely Street home Sunday night after getting a call about a man who barricaded himself in a homeowners basement. He was reportedly throwing items and attempting to break waterlines in the home.
Officers arrested 51-year-old Gerald Maple at the scene. Now Maple faces charges of trespassing and interfering with arrest.
Maple was transported by Marion County Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital and placed on a 96 hour observation.
This isn't Maple's first run-in with the law. Click here to read a previous story when he was arrested for a DUI and assault.
