Law Enforcement officials say that bones found in Henry County, Iowa belong to Jackie Douthart.

Douthart was 24-years-old at the time she was reported missing on May 21, 2011.

The findings were announced at a press conference Wednesday morning at the Department of Criminal Investigation and Iowa State Police building in Mt. Pleasant.

The skeletal remains were discovered on March 17th when two children riding their bikes from Lockridge, Iowa to Rome, Iowa noticed a white object, later identified as a human skull, lying between the roadway and the railroad tracks.

The Henry County Sheriff's Office, Division of Criminal Investigation, Mt. Pleasant Police Department and the Henry County Medical Examiner searched the area and discovered human bones.

The State Medical Examiner and a forensic anthropologist examined the remains and determined they belong to a female between the ages of 24 and 32. They have also determined the woman was between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 7 inches tall. Time of death is estimated at the summer or early fall of 2011.

Douthart's disappearance had a connection to a man shot to death in a standoff with Adams County sheriff's deputies.

Benjamin J. Biggs, 24, from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, lead police on a high speed chase June 29, 2011 east of Liberty, Ill. after stealing an SUV in Quincy.

After crashing the SUV near the town of Kingsley Biggs fled on foot.

As their team was going up the steps of home, there was an altercation that led to a gun fight inside the house.

Biggs remained in the house for nearly 6 hours. Police used a camera to check on him and found he was not moving. Officers then went back into the house.

Biggs died of a gunshot wound.

Biggs was "person of interest" in Douthart's disappearance.
