HANNIBAL, MO. -- It's like something out of the "Incredible Journey," except this time the owner found the dog.

A nine-month-old Yorkie has been reunited with his owner...after the little dog was accidently left behind at a local truck stop.

According to the Hannibal Courier Post, a truck driver was passing through town last Friday when he got out to stretch his legs. That's when his dog Rambo slipped out of the truck unnoticed. After the pit stop, his owner drove away, thinking Rambo was asleep in the cab of the truck.

The driver got all the way to Cedar Rapids, Iowa before realizing his little 'Rambo' wasn't with him.

The truck driver called around to area towns until locating officials with Hannibal's Animal Control, which handled the area where he stopped. After learning of the story, officers went to the pit stop and found Rambo. The dog was sitting there alone, as if waiting for his beloved trucker to come back.

As it turned out, a family saw Rambo at the rest stop and was about to take him home. But Hannibal's animal control officer arrived just in time, telling the family the dog was left behind by a trucker passing through. That trucker's reuniting with his best friend was certainly a happy moment too.

The pup was on an "expanded vacation" at the Northeast Missouri Humane Society until his owner was able to pick him up.
