PALMYRA, MO. -- What would you do if you were told you had about a year left to live?
That's what doctors told a seven-year-old in Palmyra just a few months ago.
JC Breault was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor back in April. He and his family spent 6 weeks down in St. Louis for treatments.
"In the beginning, JC's outcome was not good, they gave him 12-14 months. And the day he was diagnosed, the hospital came up and told us that they had just opened a new study through St. Judes. And he was at Cardinal Glennon," JC's grandma Kell Drebes said.
Two children from Cardinal Glennon were allowed in the study and JC was the first one. So, JC's neighbors came up with a plan -- a motorcycle ride through town. Dozens of motorcyclists from all over the area came out to support JC.
"He's just as much grandson to us as he is to Mike and Kell. So we felt it was something we should do," neighbor Brent Hobbs said.
The money raised will go towards medical and living expenses.
"And I pray that the money will go to college," Drebes said.
So far, the treatment appears to be working. Doctors found some of the cells are already dead.
There has been a bank account set up at the Palmyra State Bank to donate money.
