State Senator John Sullivan (D – Rushville) returned to his home in Rushville, Illinois after a successful surgery to remove a rare but highly treatable type of cancer.

“I’m thrilled to be home with my family and friends,” Sullivan said. “It takes time to fully recuperate from this type of surgery, but I feel good and am looking forward to being back at work for the people of western Illinois.”

According to Sullivan's docotor, there is no further treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation required at this time. Although still healing from his surgery, he is expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Sullivan expressed gratitude for the many prayers, cards, and well wishes he’s received from friends and supporters across the state.

“I am grateful and truly humbled by the overwhelming outpouring of support I’ve received,” Sullivan said. “Thank you to the many, many people who so kindly expressed their support for my family and I through this difficult time. You’ve given me a truly wonderful homecoming.”
