Mother was considered a strong advocate for women and families
MISSOURI -- The mother of Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill has died.
Betty Anne McCaskill died Monday at her St. Louis home from heart and kidney related problems.
A statement from the Missouri Democratic Party says that she was a constant voice and advocate for women and Missouri families.
She also made Missouri history as the first woman to serve on the Columbia Missouri city council.
Despite a heated Senate race between Claire McCaskill and her opponent Todd Akin, he also released a statement expressing condolences from himself and his wife.
Betty Anne McCaskill was 84-years-old.
