A three-year-old boy died in a crash Monday morning near Wayland, Mo.

Sawyer Jacobson was pronounced dead by the Clark County Coroner at 10:30 a.m. His mother's 2003 Ford Focus ran off of U.S. Highway 136 about three miles west of Wayland and struck a tree.

The car driven by 31-year-old Lora Jacobson of Kahoka, Mo. overturned and landed on its wheels in a ditch, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Sawyer was secured in a forward facing child safety seat.

Lora Jacobson and her one-year-old son Lance were taken to Hannibal Regional Hospital with minor injuries.

The Missouri Highway Patrol the crash appeared to be weather related. No citations will be issued.
