Should first graders in Missouri be forced to take a gun safety course?
JEFFERSON CITY, MO. (AP) --
That's a question that some Missouri parents will have to wrestle with if a new bill under consideration becomes law.

The bill proposed by Senator Dan Brown from Rolla, Missouri would make it a mandate to teach the NRA Eddie Eagle Gunsafe Program in ever first grade classroom in the state.

Teachers would also be required to atttend 8 hours of training that would include tactics on how to respond to an armed intruder inside their school.

The measure is now before a Senate committtee but no action has been taken on it.

Surprisingly Brown filed the measure just one day before the shooting in Newtown on December 14th, 2012.
