Successful Charger Boss axed by School Board...against the recommendations of the IW Administration
ZACH KEENE OUSTED AS ILLINI WEST GIRLS BASKETBALL COACH
Illini West Girls Basketball Coach Zach Keene received an "Excellent" in his End of the Year Review for his work with the Chargers.
And considering that his squad upset state ranked and once beaten Havana to win an unlikely Regional Championship, he seemed deserved of the praise.
It was not enough to save his job.
As first reported by KHQA via Twitter, the Illini West School Board voted 4-3 against retaining Keene for the 2012-2013 School Year, saying only that it was time to go in a different direction. This despite a recommendation for rehire from his Administration.
Keene's seven year tenure with Illini West is now effectively finished. He posted a 141-68 record with the Chargers and back to back regional championships.
