QUINCY, ILL. -- An airplane filled with smoke had emergency officials on alert Wednesday at the Quincy Regional Airport.

The pilot of a single-engine Cessna airplane contacted the airport about 1 p.m. to report the incident, interim airport director Jeff Steinkamp said.

The Quincy Fire Department, Tri-Township Fire Department and ambulance services responded to the airport that was shut down for about 30 minutes.

The private plane landed without incident. Steinkamp said it was repaired and has since left the area.

The names of the pilot and his lone passenger were not immediately available.
