Pedestrian struck and killed near West Quincy

TAYLOR, MO. -- A Taylor, Mo. man died after being struck by a car early Sunday morning.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, William Oliver was hit while walking south crossing U.S. 24 a mile west of West Quincy, Mo. The driver, 18-year-old Niekeo Daucsavage, of Quincy, was driving eastbound at the time of the accident.

The accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Authorities on the scene said Oliver did not use a crosswalk and failed to yield to traffic.

Oliver was pronounced dead at the scene by Acting Coroner Steve Lewis.
