With the snow event coming to an end, blowing and drifting was the major overnight issue.

Blizzard Warning remained in effect until midnight and it included Lee County in our viewing area and the rest of Southeast Iowa and Putnam County in Missouri. Also included were Henderson County, Warren County, Hancock County and McDonough County in Illinois. Snow became heavy at times and winds were sustained from 30 to 40mph with gusts as high as 55mph. Visibility was expected to be less that a quarter of a mile at times with whiteout conditions a possibility in open areas.

Winter Storm Warning was in effect through Thursday at 6 p.m. for Northern Kansas and Northern Missouri, including Knox County Lewis County, Shelby County, and Marion County in Missouri and Adams County and Brown County in Illinois. A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring.  Significant amounts of snow was forecast and that made travel dangerous.

Winter Weather Advisory was in effect on Thursday through 6 p.m. for most of the Northeast Missouri Counties in the Tri-States including Monroe County, Ralls County, Pike County, Boone County, and Audrain County.  A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for a variety of winter weather conditions, such as snow, blowing snow, sleet or freezing drizzle and rain.

High Wind Warning and Wind Advisory was also in place through Thursday 9 p.m. for much of the Tri-State area.  A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring.  Sustained wind speeds of at least 40mph or gust of 58pmh or more can lead to property damage.

Snow totals in the Tri-State area ranged from one to seven inches with snow drifts in some areas reported to be as high as four feet tall.

Windchill values fell to -5 by sunrise on Friday, creating additional dangerous conditions for Tri-State travel.
