Gardner Denver has ended talks with a potential buyer.

Reuters news service is reporting that the industrial machine maker ended talks with SPX Corporation.

Gardner Denver has restarted talks with private equity firms that made offers for the company.

The company announced in October that it was pursuing strategic alternatives, including a possible sale, amid pressure from investor ValueAct Capital.

Gardner Denver's CEO resigned suddenly in July.
