JEFFERSON CITY, MO. -- The Missouri Department of Conservation reports that one adult buck has tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease.

They collected about 1,700 tissue samples from deer harvested this fall and the focus of the testing was in northeast Missouri. So far it is good news that there was only one positive result out of the 800 tests performed.

The deer in question was harvested in northwest Macon County where CWD was previously discovered.

The conservation department did notify the hunter of the positive result and says that they will notify any other hunters if their deer also test positive for the disease.

The overall results will be shared once testing is complete early next year.
