CANTON, Mo. --- Culver-Stockton College freshman Randi Lee Plunkett (Philadelphia, Mo. / Marion County HS) was named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year as announced by the league office Thursday.

Plunkett, a 5-foot-10 guard, also earned a spot on the All-HAAC team as an honorable mention selection after averaging 9.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 2.1 steals per game during the regular season. She was the only player to play and start in all 28 regular season games for the Wildcats. Plunkett scored in double figures 12 times, including a career-high 19 points versus Graceland University (Iowa) on Feb. 14. In that game, Plunkett also grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds as she recorded her only double-double of the season. She is the third Wildcat player to earn top freshman honors, joining Jessica Langenbahn in 1995 and Kristin Allen in 2005.

Mimi Reaves (Oakland, Calif. / Sacramento HS / Labette CC) made an appearance on the All-HAAC’s second team. Reaves, a 5-9 junior guard, leads the HAAC in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. She is the second straight Wildcat player to lead the HAAC in scoring, following Aneisha Starks who did it last season. Reaves also averaged 4.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a team-best 3.4 steals per game. She scored a career-high 33 points at Peru State (Neb.) Dec. 8. She ranks third in the HAAC field goal percentage (38.0), fourth in free throw percentage (77.5) and second in steals (3.4).

The Wildcats are scheduled to play tonight (Feb. 28) in a HAAC Tournament quarterfinal game at Central Methodist University in Fayette, Mo. Game time is slated for 6 p.m.
