Missing Iowa woman found dead in river near Hamilton

HANCOCK COUNTY, ILL. -- The Hancock County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the body pulled from the Mississippi River Wednesday was that of a missing Henry County, Iowa woman.

Teresa Bruegge was reported missing Feb. 15 by the Henry County Sheriff's Office. A conservation officer found a silver 1992 Dodge Grand Caravan parked at the end of the boat ramp at Faulkners Access near Oakland Mills.

The body was found floating in the river shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday about 3 ½ miles north of Hamilton. A resident spotted the woman.

An autopsy was performed Thursday. The cause of death was ruled a drowning, Hancock County Sheriff Scott Bentzinger and the Henry County Sheriff's Office.

Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact the Hancock County Sheriff's Office at 217-357-2115.

The case remains under investigation.
