Kicker Pat Smith contemplates transferring, set to visit Nebraska this weekend

One of the lone bright stars of a difficult 2012 Western Illinois Football campaign...may well be on his way out of Macomb.
Kicker Patrick Smith, who did not miss a single field goal or PAT attempt this past fall, tells KHQA that he is exploring transfer options and in fact has a visit planned this weekend to Nebraska.
The Quincy Notre Dame alum tells us his motivation is academically based. He hopes to use football as an avenue into Grad School and is looking into schools with strong finance programs. That established, Pat says he's heading into his trip to Lincoln with an open mind, has other options in play, and hasn't closed the door on a return to Western Illinois next year
