CHICAGO (AP) — Former Bulls great Norm Van Lier (LEER) has been found dead in his Chicago home.

The Chicago Fire Department says they were called the Van Lier's near West Side home by friends or family requesting a well-being check. They found him unresponsive and department spokesman Quention Curtis says he was pronounced dead at the scene this afternoon.

Van Lier played the bulk of his career with the Bulls. He was a fan favorite who was given the nickname "Stormin' Norman" for his fiery play and defensive tenacity.

Van Lier was a three-time All-Star who played on five playoff teams.
