NORMAN, Okla. (AP) — Oklahoma's Jermaine Gresham has been named to the watch list for the John Mackey Award, given annually to college football's top tight end.
Gresham was a finalist for the award last season along with Oklahoma State's Brandon Pettigrew and Missouri's Chase Coffman, who was named the winner.
Gresham set a school record with 14 touchdown catches last season and needs only five more to tie the career record at Oklahoma.
Others on the list of 30 preseason candidates for the award released Wednesday by the Nassau County Sports Commission included BYU's Dennis Pitta and Arkansas' D.J. Williams, who were semifinalists last year, and third-team All-America pick Rob Gronkowski of Arizona.
The winner will be announced on Dec. 10.
