LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Testimony is scheduled to resume in the Louisville trial of a former high school football coach over the death of a player.
Former Pleasure Ridge Park High School coach David Jason Stinson is charged with reckless homicide and wanton endangerment in the death of 15-year-old Max Gilpin, who collapsed after practice in August 2008 and died three days later. Stinson has pleaded not guilty.
The Courier-Journal of Louisville said Gilpin's father was set to testify Tuesday morning.
Jurors last week heard testimony from Gilpin's mother and an athletic trainer.
Prosecutors said Stinson ran a brutal practice the day Gilpin collapsed. Stinson's defense said the practice wasn't unusually hard.
Stinson's trial is a rare case of a coach being prosecuted for a player's heat-related death.
