National letters of intent poured through the tri-states on Wednesday as eight area athletes were able to sign on to play at the collegiate level.

At Tenth and Jackson, the tag-team golf duo of Brennan Rakers and Andrew Boudreau will keep their golf talents in the Gem City, and try to bring more successful to the links at Quincy University.

Isaiah Johnson has long served as the floor general for Sean Taylor's Quincy Blue Devil basketball team, and helped lead QHS to an unbeaten home record in 2010. His new home to hone his point guard skills will be with Mike Elbe at John Wood Community College.

It was also a banner day in Carthage, where four players from the enormously successful Illini West football program will all move on to the next level. Fullback Stefan Flynn and safety Jesse Holtsclaw will head up to Monmouth College, while Tim Yex will join the Illinois College Blueboys, and Carl Hartweg will attend Augustana.

Finally, one and a half years on the QHS rifle team happened to be plenty of time for Jordan Goodwin to establish herself. The senior today inked a letter of intent to join the rifle squad at the University Tennessee-Martin, where she'll continue to improve her craft.
