KHQA FIRST REPORT: BILL REED EXPECTED TO STEP DOWN AS CENTRAL-SOUTHEASTERN HEAD FOOTBALL COACH

He has presided over the most successful stretch of high school football in modern program history.

Barring some kind of snafu at tonight's school board meeting, KHQA has learned that Central-Southeastern skipper Bill Reed is stepping down as the Panthers Head Coach and plans to cede control of the program to Defensive Coordinator Brad Dixon.

Sources tell KHQA that this was always part of Reed's master plan; to coach short term, jump start the program, then hand over control to one of his assistants with the program in better shape than he found it. Reed, who also serves as Central's High School Principal, could also spread himself a little less thin giving up the reigns. Reed does not appear to be giving up football duties altogether. Reed plans to stay on as Brad Dixon's Offensive Coordinator and help continue the growth of what may be one of the area's most promising programs for 2011.

Reed's head coaching tenure in Camp Point was nothing shy of spectacular. It includes a 20-11 overall record, a run of three straight playoff appearances, and this past season, the first playoff victory in school history.

Much more on this developing story on Friday, when CSE is expected to make Brad Dixon and Bill Reed available for comment.
