BREAKING: KEN SCHUSTER TO BE HIRED AT PANA
The man who turned West Hancock Girls Basketball into a state champion will be back on the sidelines as a head coach next season in Pana.
A reliable source told KHQA late Tuesday night that Ken Schuster had accepted an offer from Pana, and pending school board approval, will take over the reigns of one of the more promising talent bases on this side of the state. Schuster himself confirmed his intended hire to us this morning.
Schuster spent this past season as the lead assistant to Matt Long at Central-Southeastern following his bizarre ouster at West Hancock a year ago. Ken spent 13 seasons helming various incarnations of Nauvoo Colusa and West Hancock basketball before being ousted by a 6-1 Board vote in 2010. His tenure with the Titans resulted in back to back Final Four appearances in 2008 and 2009 which netted a State Title and State Runners-Up trophy respectively. No explanation was ever given as to why Schuster's contract was not renewed, even in the wake of all of his coaching success.
Pana returns eight letterwinners from a 2011 squad that went 26-3 this season, including gited junior-to-be Charley Lett.
