Macomb Offensive Lineman gives ISU a verbal commitment Saturday during his first ever trip to Ames
CYCLONE CERTIFIED: NICK SEVERS PLEDGES IOWA STATE
Macomb Senior Offensive Lineman Nick Severs has made no secret of his fondness for Iowa State in the recruiting process.
All it took for the Cyclones to seal the deal was getting the 6'5" 250 pounder on campus for the first time.
Severs confirmed to KHQA early Saturday afternoon that he had given the ISU Coaching Staff his verbal commitment; ending the process well ahead of his original September 1st target date. Nick told me earlier this week that his only holdup in the process after Iowa State made the original offer last week was that he wanted to get on campus and get a sense of all the program had to offer.
Mission Accomplished.
"I took the visit today and fell in love," Severs told KHQA. "Didn't want to drag out the process anymore when I knw where my home was....No reason to mess around with the process when you have been blessed with the opportunity I was."
Severs was carrying a three star rating from the Rivals Network and has Division One offers in hand from seven schools including Cincinnati, Ball State, Western Michigan, and Wyoming. The Iowa State offer had also touched off increased attention from West Virginia and Illinois in recent days.
Severs has already put on 20 pounds in his off-season workouts and likely projects as Guard for the Cyclones.
Nick Severs commitment is the first Division One recruiting domino to fall in what is projected to be one of the deepest local classes of senior talent in some time.
