COLUMBIA, MO. (AP) -- Missouri coach Mike Anderson made this year's schedule more difficult with the goal of getting the Tigers better prepared for Big 12 play.

On Saturday, he'll find out if it worked as Missouri hosts 12th-ranked Texas at Mizzou Arena.

The Tigers' 10-5 record falls short of last season's 11-2 mark in pre-conference play. But this season, Missouri has played seven teams from major conferences, including number-ten Michigan State, California and Illinois. Second-year coach Mike Anderson thinks it will pay off in conference play.

Texas is 13-2 and has beaten two top-ten teams this season.
