OMAHA, NEB. (AP) -- Alex Gordon is getting less attention as he enters his second major league season.
And that's how the low-key Kansas City Royals third baseman likes it.
Gordon faced big expectations last season after being drafted Number Two overall out of Nebraska in 2005. The expectations grew more after he was selected minor league player of the year in 2006.
But his batting average hovered around .170 in early June.
Fortunately, his production picked up after that, and he finished with a .247 average and 15 homers.
Gordon was on the Royals Caravan tour stop in Omaha Wednesday. He says he put a lot of pressure on himself to start last season. He says his numbers improved after he started to relax and have fun with the game.
